Who doesn’t have a few childhood regrets? When Reese Witherspoon took the stage to host the May 9 episode of Saturday Night Live, she decided to pay tribute to her mom and the other moms of the SNL cast members in honor of Mother’s Day.
To do so, each cast member brought their moms on stage to apologize for something they did in their childhood.
“Hey Mom, remember those sandwiches you used to make me in school? They had basil and stuff in them and took forever to make? Yeah, I threw them all in the trash,” cast member Jay Pharoah admitted before ushering his appalled mother off the stage.
Bobby Moynihan also had a funny story, telling his mother, “Hey Mom, I’m sorry that I drew my name on the wall in marker and then blamed it on Grandma. Then you said, ‘How did grandma get up and write that when she is in a wheelchair?’ And I said, ‘It’s a miracle!'”
Finally it was time for Witherspoon to introduce, “the love of my life, my mother Betty!” The Hot Pursuit star, 39, shared a naughty story from her teenage years.
“Mom, I’m really sorry that that one time in high school I told you I was having a sleepover at Ashley’s house, but instead I checked into a hotel with my boyfriend,” she admitted. “But then I felt so guilty that I left and went back to Ashley’s house.”
Betty forgave her little girl before revealing a secret of her own. She and the other SNL moms had compiled several minutes of embarrassing home video footage of the stars!
