Ryan Reynolds is a pro in the delivery room. The 2016 GQ Man of the Year cover star shared his hilarious childbirth tips for fellow dads in a new video posted by the men’s magazine on Thursday, November 17.
The Deadpool actor, 40, who shares two daughters with wife Blake Lively, kicked off the clip with a shout-out to Jon Hamm‘s not-so-chivalrous Mad Men character: “Be in the room. You’re not Don Draper!”
Reynolds then warned dads of some major no-nos: “Be judicious with the photographs you take because a photo of your daughter crowning hanging on the refrigerator — that’s not going to help anyone.”
“Your wife will pretty much never think it’s funny or charming if you tip your imaginary top hat and say, ‘At your ser-vix,'” the Proposal star added. “Don’t do that.”
As for Reynolds’ next piece of advice? “Realize that you’re pretty much the least important thing in the room,” he explained. “It’s gonna go: your wife, your baby, the doctor, a nurse, a doula if you have one, the air … God, the air.”
For his final tip, the Vancouver, British Columiba, native advised: “And when your wife asks if everything’s OK down there, you know, just respond in the affirmative. Don’t yell, ‘Better than ever!'”
Reynolds knows a thing or two about fatherhood. In September, wife Lively, 29, welcomed their second child, a baby girl. The happy couple, who married in September 2012, are also parents of daughter James, 23 months.
