Not a bad way to start the week! Matt Lauer, Al Roker, Natalie Morales, and Tamron Hall got a very pleasant surprise on Monday, Sept. 29, in the form of a visit from one of the newest members of their Today show family — Savannah Guthrie's 7-week-old baby daughter, Vale.
The Today anchors, along with co-host Carson Daly, cooed and fussed over the tiny newborn, exclaiming over her adorable cheeks and "gorgeous eyes." At one point, Guthrie (who has been on maternity leave since shortly before Vale's Aug. 13 birth) handed her little girl to Lauer, who lovingly cradled the baby against his chest before handing her back to her mom, joking, "I think she's pooping."
The longtime Today anchor then sat down for an interview with the new mom and her husband, Mike Feldman. "She is the best baby ever," he gushed.

"She's been perfect here, so I have an idea. We're just gonna spend the night here, every night," Guthrie, 42, quipped. "She's a good sleeper, but I mean, she's a newborn — she's up every couple hours. Just like Mike," she joked. "You know, he fusses, I gotta put him down."
The NBC News standout went on to talk about her experience as a first-time mother. "You know, it's exhilarating and thrilling and terrifying sometimes. But terrifying because I love her so much," she explained. "I couldn't love anything more, and I hold her life in my hands, and that is so scary sometimes. But we just have the best time. She's such a sweet baby. She amazes me every day."
After the interview, Guthrie took Vale on a tour of the Today show studios. Along the way they posed for a photo with Daly, who held up a picture of his own little one, baby girl London Rose. (He and fiancee Siri Pinter welcomed London just one week after Guthrie gave birth to her little bundle of joy.)
The proud new mom also introduced Vale to guest Ben Affleck, who was on the Today show to promote his new movie, Gone Girl.
Guthrie will return to her job as co-anchor on Nov. 3.
