Singer Teyana Taylor welcomed her first child, a baby girl, in her home bathroom on Wednesday, December 16, with help from her fiancé, NBA star Iman Shumpert.
According to an Instagram post shared by the R&B singer on Thursday, December 17, she had no idea she was in labor until she woke up at 6 a.m.
“She came out as a wonderful surprise to everyone! Not knowing I was in labor until I felt her head … it took two ten count pushes with my fiancé playing Dr and she entered this world into his bare hands!” the new mom, 25, shared alongside a photo of the Cleveland Cavaliers player holding their newborn daughter.
According to Taylor’s caption, 25-year-old Shumpert helped deliver their daughter while on the phone with emergency personnel, and used headphones in lieu of an umbilical cord clamp!
“Eyes full of tears and barely able to speak to the emergency operator @imanshumpert tied a pair of red headphones around the umbilical cord and the ambulance made there grand entrance 5 min later,” Taylor continued. “She opened her eyes right away, gazed into mine and never cried!”
“He handed her to me wrapped in our bath towel and wiped her face for me to see what LOVE really is. She has blown Christmas away!” she concluded. “Our family is complete. Her blueprint will be unmatched. Welcome Iman Tayla Shumpert Jr. Mommy carried you. Daddy delivered you.”
