Grab a tissue — or the entire box. A tearjerker video of a 2-year-old boy named Bo singing “You Are My Sunshine” with his big sister has gone massively viral with nearly one million shares on Facebook.

Bo has Down syndrome and his mother Amanda Bowman Grey was told by doctors that he might not speak until at least age 3. But the toddler — with 12 word vocabulary — is proving medical experts wrong with the help of music therapy.

“My daughter Lydia was watching Bo while I was in the shower,” Bowman Grey began in a post earlier this month. “Came out to this. If she didn’t have a guitar I don’t know if she would know how to babysit him. This is her go to. It’s proof that music therapy works . . . Every word he has learned has been through music and singing.”

In the video, that has been viewed more than 37 million times, a smiling Bo and Lydia, 11, perform an adorable duet with a special appearance by their 3-year-old brother, Hunter. (Bowman Gray and her musician Caleb Grey are also parents of Thomas, 15, and William, 13.)

“You Are My Sunshine” has special meaning to the Gray family. In April 2016, Bo underwent heart surgery. In a separate video posted to Facebook, Bo’s parents are seen singing the song to Bo, who is hooked up to tubes in a hospital bed. Bowman Gray captioned the clip: “This was the first time that he moved as he reacted to the familiarity of the song and our voices . . . From then on this has because his theme song.”

Bo continues to amaze his parents every day. “We feel like he’s defying the odds,” Bowman Grey told ABC News on Tuesday, January 16. “Thanks to Lydia and her determination, she pushed forward with music therapy . . . We’re so proud of our kids.”
