Bachelor Nation’s Elizabeth Kitt Brown and Ty Brown are sharing a message of hope. After struggling for four years to start a family, the couple welcomed their first child — a baby girl named Blakely on April 26.
Elizabeth was diagnosed with unexplained infertility in 2015 and underwent IUI, where sperm is injected directly into the cervix, to increase the chance of fertilization. When the treatments didn’t work, the Tennessee-based couple began the IVF process. “Since we are older, we didn’t want to waste any more time,” Elizabeth told Us Weekly. The transfer was a success, but sadly, Elizabeth ended up miscarrying shortly after.
“That was tough,” she tells Us. “We waited an entire year before deciding we were ready to try again.”
Finally, last August, Elizabeth and Ty got the news they had been praying for: She was pregnant.
“I believe I held my breath the entire pregnancy, hoping and praying we would go full-term,” she revealed. On April 26, Elizabeth was at last able to exhale. Blakely Elizabeth Brown arrived at 11:33 a.m. weighing in at 7 pounds, 5 ounces.
“Our lives have changed forever,” Elizabeth gushed to Us. “I have so much love and respect in my heart for Ty, as he has been with me through this incredible journey every step of the way.”
Elizabeth competed on Jake Pavelka’s Bachelor season 14 in 2010. Ty, meanwhile, vied for Ali Fedotowsky’s heart on season 6 of the Bachelorette. The pair met at a charity event in 2013 and were married the following year.
