Kardashian and West named their third child, a daughter born on January 15, 2018, via surrogate, Chicago West. The reality star announced the name via her app on January 19. Her nickname is "Chi,” which is pronounced “Shy.” A source told Us that they chose the name because West is from Chicago.

The British power couple welcomed their first child together, Brooklyn Beckham, in March 1999. Victoria revealed in her autobiography, Learning to Fly, that they picked the name because she like the name Brooke, for a girl, and the fact that they were in New York when Victoria found out she was pregnant was just a coincidence.
“It was when we were in Marbella that we came up with the name Brooklyn. We already knew he was a boy and so I knew he could end up a footballer, so it had to be a name that was a bit blokey. I had always liked the name Brooke and then we suddenly thought about Brooklyn,” the former Spice Girl wrote in 2001. “I’d always like it as a place – it’s very multi-cultural, very grounded. And it was only afterwards that I realized how appropriate it was because it was in New York that I found out I was pregnant and where David came after the World Cup.”

The veteran actor and the Slash actress welcomed daughter Bryce Dallas Howard in March 1981. She followed in her parents footsteps and has had roles in multiple movies, including The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, The Help and Jurassic World. Bryce opened up about how her parents named all of their children after the place they were conceived during an interview on Popcorn With Peter Travers in June 2015.
"The rule was it's wherever we were conceived, it's so disgusting!" she said at the time, laughing. "For me, it was a city, for my sisters, it was a hotel [Carlyle]. My brother, his middle name was Cross after a place we used to live ... that was our road where our house was, my dad would make this joke, 'I didn't want to call him back of the Volvo!' ... no, stop it!"

The former child actress and the wealthy businessman welcomed their first child together, Paris Hilton, in February 1981. The socialite was infamously engaged to a man also named after the city in France in May 2005. The relationship didn’t last, but Paris is now set to marry actor Chris Zylka, who got her name tattooed his arm.

Before the two musicians called in quits, they welcomed Bronx in November 2008. The Fall Out Boy bassist spoke about his son’s name to Ryan Seacrest on his KISS FM radio show shortly after he was born.
"We'd been throwing [Bronx] back and forth a while ago," Wentz said at the time. "I feel weird because all these people have all these ideas on what it means ... It's kind of cool to leave the narrative what it is … I don't think anybody knows what the real story is of why or how.”

The Oscar winner gave birth to her third child — and first with her second husband — in September 2012. The couple named their son Tennessee, and while Witherspoon is from the South, she has never revealed publicly about why she picked the name.

The former couple welcomed twins Moroccan and Monroe in March 2011. Their son’s name was inspired by Morocco, specifically the top tier of Carey's NYC apartment, which is called the Moroccan Room, because of its Moroccan-inspired decor. It's also where Cannon proposed to Carey in 2008.

Paris Jackson, the daughter of the late king of pop and Debbie Rowe, was born in April 1998. Rowe previously said that the model got her name because she was conceived in Paris.

The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer gave birth to her first son, Milan Piqué Mebarak, with the soccer player in January 2013. The couple chose the name Milan because it "means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification," they explained in a statement at the time.

The former couple welcomed daughter Ireland Baldwin in October 1995. She went on to become a model, like her mother. The 30 Rock star joked about his daughter’s name on Twitter in February 2012, tweeting he named her Ireland because “she’s beautiful but can’t manage her finances.”

Keys gave birth to her first child with Beatz, a baby boy named Egypt, in October 2010. The “Girl on Fire” singer spoke to Complex in December 2012 about naming her son after the country: “I took an important trip for myself to Egypt. There were a lot of things that needed to change. I was not as experienced then, so I felt close to a breakdown. I went to Egypt, and I went alone. I sailed down the Nile and I saw the temples, the tombs, and the pyramids. It was powerful. It was very Cleopatra. When we found out I was pregnant, my husband said, ‘Egypt was such an important time for you. That really changed your life. Wouldn’t that be amazing as a name?’ Once he said that, I was like, ‘Yes.’”

The former boxer has two children, Milan and Morocco, with his third wife. The duo never confirmed why they named their daughter, born in 2009, or son, born in 2011, after cities.

The Thor actor and the model named their first child India. Hemsworth opened up about her name shortly after her birth in May 2012. “It was just something we both loved – there was no great sort of thought behind it,” he told Access Hollywood at the time. “There were a few ideas sort of bouncing around and everyone said to me, ‘Just wait until they are born and then you’ll know’ and it seemed to fit … I wanted to call her Indiana Jones, but it didn’t work out too well for a female, so India was the version.”
