Kidman portrayed a character who hit close to home in 2016’s Lion. “I can see now, for Lion, that this is important to me because I’m a mother with adopted children,” she told Town & Country in November 2016 of the Oscar nominated flick in which she plays an Australian woman who adopts an Indian child. “This movie is a love letter to my children.”
