Whether you’re watching with your eyes half-covered or you’re eager for some true terror, these films will deliver the thrills and chills direct to your living room.

1. From Dusk Till Dawn (Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu) — Back when George Clooney was just that guy from ER, he starred in this 1996 action thriller cowritten and costarring Pulp Fiction director Quentin Tarantino. As sibling criminals with a family of hostages in tow (including a young Juliette Lewis), Clooney and Tarantino stumble into a bordello run by vampires.

2. The Babadook (Netflix) — This 2014 Australian film will ensure that evening story time will never be the same. A troubled 6-year-old starts to believe that the titular character from one of his books has come to life, and his single mother slowly unravels as she begins to see the monster too.

3. The Silence of the Lambs (Hulu) — Now’s the perfect time to reacquaint yourself with the legendary film that made fava beans and a nice Chianti the creepiest wine pairing of all time. Watch Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins in this haunting 1991 classic about a serial killer cannibal on the loose.

4. Day of the Dead (Hulu) — George Romero’s 1985 camp classic is perfect for those who find vintage gore scarier than CGI blood and guts. Here, scientists at an underground military research facility are struggling to tame a zombie epidemic but soon find themselves overrun by flesh eaters. Gross!

5. Carrie (Hulu) — Julianne Moore and Chloe Grace Moretz did their take on this Stephen King classic in 2013, but it’s the 1976 original that still gives Us the willies. Sissy Spacek stars as the outcast with supernatural powers whose crush (John Travolta) and classmates conspire to humiliate her on prom night. Big mistake, guys.

6. The Blair Witch Project (Hulu) — This 1999 film is generally credited for inspiring the entire found-footage horror genre, with the Paranormal Activity movies and so many more following its creepy conceit. Blair Witch is presented as the recovered tapes from three film students who go into the woods to explore the local legend about a witch who tortures kids. The final frame will give you nightmares for days.

7. Misery (Amazon Prime) — For those who find human bad guys easier to deal with, dive into the 1990 classic that gave cabin fever new meaning. Kathy Bates stars as a nurse who rescues her favorite author (James Caan) from a car crash … but won’t let him leave until he writes a new manuscript.

8. Interview With the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (Amazon Prime) — Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise in the same movie? Yes, it happened. This 1994 classic based on the bestselling Anne Rice novel followed bloodsuckers Lestat (Cruise) and Louis (Pitt) as they enjoy everlasting existence in New Orleans from 1791 to 1988, turning a young Kirsten Dunst into a child vampire in the meantime.

9. The Witch (Amazon Prime) — The buzz was huge for this 2015 depiction of paranoia and demon possession in 1630s Puritan New England.

10. Scream (for purchase on Amazon, iTunes) — Check out couple-to-be David Arquette and Courteney Cox (who first met on the set of this film) in this 1996 meta-horror film that kicked off a franchise, inspired a TV show and made the Ghostface mask a staple of every Halloween celebration.
