Before there was Walter White, there was Bob Barker. Aaron Paul can’t help but laugh off his brief stint as a then-anonymous game show contestant on The Price Is Right in 2000. While promoting his latest flick Need for Speed, the actor joked about his “come on down” moment to a CBS affiliate station in Boston.
“It looks like I’m on some serious crack,” Paul, 34, joked. “I downed about six cans of red bull because I knew they wanted people with energy. It worked, but I could not sit still. It was not healthy.”
The video of the star’s appearance first surfaced (and quickly went viral!) in August 2013. At the time of its resurrection, the two-time Emmy winner was already a household name for playing the role of Jesse Pinkman in AMC’s Breaking Bad.
The clip showed a scrawny Paul (announced by his real name, Aaron Sturtevant) running down the aisle to claim his spot near the stage. He high-fived with audience members, wore glasses, and shouted: “I love you Bob! You’re my idol!”
Unfortunately for him, however, his enthusiasm didn’t win him the grand prize. In the bottom two, Paul ultimately lost out to his competitor. “I bid on a Camaro and some other prizes, and was $132 over,” he told the CBS outlet.
