Say it ain’t so! Alec Baldwin revealed in a new interview that he won’t reprise his role as Donald Trump on the November 12 episode of Saturday Night Live.
“I’m trying to shed the Donald Trump cloak,” the two-time Emmy winner, 58, said during an appearance on WNYC’s The Brian Lehrer Show, according to Inside Edition.
Baldwin added: “I’m not an impressionist, per se, but if you do any kind of comedy and they ask you to do that, most of the time, there’s some degree of appreciation, I think, involving somebody you like. Trump is somebody who — I don’t hate Trump, but he’s not somebody I admire, so it was more difficult.”
Us Weekly reached out to NBC, which had no comment.

Saturday night’s episode of SNL (which features host Dave Chappelle) will be the first since Trump, 70, was elected the 45th president of the United States in a shocking victory on Tuesday, November 8. Earlier this season, Baldwin portrayed the real estate mogul in a series of hilarious cold open sketches, many of which poked fun at the 2016 presidential debates with Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton (Kate McKinnon).
Last month, Trump slammed the 30 Rock actor’s SNL portrayal of him via Twitter, writing, “Watched Saturday Night Live hit job on me. Time to retire the boring and unfunny show. Alec Baldwin portrayal stinks. Media rigging election!”
As fans know, the former Celebrity Apprentice host is no stranger to the Studio 8H stage at NBC Studios in New York City. Since 1988, a handful of famous faces have impersonated Trump on SNL, including Phil Hartman, Darrell Hammond, Jason Sudeikis and Taran Killam. Trump himself hosted the NBC variety show in 2004 and 2015, the latter of which featured the real estate mogul awkwardly parodying Drake‘s “Hotline Bling” music video.
