Escape to New York! Amanda Bynes traveled to New York City on Friday, Oct. 3, arriving on the East Coast after she ran into legal trouble in her native California earlier this week.
The troubled star, 28, was arrested for driving under the influence in the early hours of the morning on Sunday, Sept. 28. She was pulled over at 3:30 a.m. in Los Angeles’ Sherman Oaks neighborhood and was unable to pass a field sobriety test. She was then taken into custody and charged with a DUI after officers “determined she was under the influence of a drug.”
Bynes, who is already on probation for a previous DUI charge, reportedly posted a $15,000 bail and was released. She since decided to leave her home state, and returned to New York, where she repeatedly ran into issues last summer.
A source tells Us Weekly that the former child star flew out of Los Angeles International Airport late on Thursday evening, making a stop at Studio One Salon in Thousand Oaks, Calif. on her way to the airport.
Bynes made it to New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport on Friday, later walking through the city’s Upper East Side neighborhood while looking disheveled. With her platinum blonde locks let down and to her waist, Bynes wore a denim jacket over a mustard yellow sweater with a grey scarf tied around her neck and a pair of grey sweatpants.
The Easy A actress was also smoking a cigarette and inexplicably sporting a large bandage across her cheek. Bynes seemed to be getting back on track this past summer, as she spent time with her parents after entering rehab. She was in treatment for mental illness for four months at the end of last year, going on to enroll at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in the hopes of pursuing a fashion career. Bynes has yet to comment on the recent DUI incident.
