Angelina Jolie caught the one thing that could break her promotional schedule for her new movie Unbroken. The actress, 39, has the chickenpox.
Jolie, who is making her second directorial effort with Unbroken, recorded a video on Friday, Dec. 12, explaining her absence from the movie's events. While she did not say whether she picked up the illness from one of her six children, Jolie expressed her dismay over missing the events.
"I just want to be clear and honest about why I will be missing the Unbroken events in the next few days," Brad Pitt's wife began. "I found out last night that I have chickenpox."
Despite her illness, Jolie looks gorgeous in the simple video. She sits in front of a slate wall, wearing a white tank top with her pox on full display on her skin. Her brunette locks are straight and down, and she wears minimal makeup as she faces the camera.
"I will be home, itching and missing everyone," Jolie continued of her plans for the following days, laughing slightly about the situation. "I can't believe it cause this film means so much to me… I just can't believe it, but such is life. There it is."
Universal shared the video on the official Universal Studios Entertainment Facebook page on Friday evening, confirming that Jolie will not make appearances at Unbroken events "over the coming days." She is expected to rejoin the promotional run as soon as possible in the weeks leading up to the drama's Dec. 25 release.
"You have to laugh at the timing," Jolie added in a statement. "I was sure nothing could stop me from supporting Unbroken. I am heartbroken to miss our premiere."
