Ann Curry is heading back to TODAY — temporarily.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Curry has been tapped to travel to Aurora, Colorado to co-anchor the morning program on Saturday and Sunday alongside her replacement, Savannah Guthrie.

The two women will report on the aftermath of gunman James Holmes' Friday morning shooting spree at a movie theater screening The Dark Knight Rises. (Holmes killed 12 people and wounded 38 in his attack.)

After 15 years on the show, Ann Curry's last day as a regular part of the TODAY show staff was June 29. (NBC News announced she will still handle special reporting assignments as an Anchor-At-Large for the program.)

As reports emerged claiming Matt Lauer had pushed for her firing, Curry did her best to hide any bitterness she may have harbored towards her colleague, delivering a heartfelt farewell to fans during her final broadcast in the co-anchor spot.

"I have loved you and I wanted to give you the world and I still do," Curry tearfully confessed to viewers. "For all of you who saw me as a groundbreaker, I'm sorry I couldn't carry the ball over the finish line, but man I did try."
