There is a “strong possibility” that the body of Annie Lennox’s daughter’s boyfriend, Ian Jones, was found on Monday, Aug. 10, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office tells Us Weekly.
According to Captain John A. Watterson, the body of a male was spotted in the Hudson River near the Poughkeepsie Yacht Club shortly after noon on Monday. Officials tell Us that the body was removed and will undergo an autopsy on Tuesday, Aug. 11, to identify the individual and determine the cause of death.
“The body matches the description of Mr. Ian Jones,” police add to Us.
As previously reported, Lennox’s daughter Tali Lennox-Fruchtmann was involved in a kayaking accident in upstate New York on Saturday, Aug. 8. The 22-year-old music scion, whom Lennox shares with her ex-husband Uri Fruchtmann, was in a kayak with Jones near the Staatsburgh State Historic Site when they capsized at about 9:30 a.m. local time.
While Lennox-Fruchtmann, 22, was picked up by a passing boat about 20 minutes after the accident, her boyfriend had not been seen since Saturday morning. A search was ongoing throughout the weekend until Monday afternoon.
“While there is a strong possibility that the body recovered is that of Mr. Jones, it remains only a possibility at this time,” authorities tell Us in their latest update. “Further information will be released once the autopsy is completed and official identification made, and at this time the search for Mr. Jones has been suspended until further notice.”
The Poughkeepsie Journal reported that alcohol could have been one of the factors involved in the accident. Neither Lennox-Fruchtmann nor Jones was wearing a life vest at the time their kayak capsized.
