She’s standing by her man. Three days after claiming that the 2016 NBA Finals were “rigged,” Ayesha Curry was mocked on social media when her husband Stephen Curry’s team, the Golden State Warriors, were defeated by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the league’s championship series.
As previously reported, the mom-of-two, 27, angrily took to Twitter on Thursday, June 16, after her husband was ejected from Game 6 for throwing his mouthpiece, which hit one of the Cavaliers’ minority owners’ sons. “I’ve lost all respect sorry this is absolutely rigged for money… Or ratings [I’m] not sure which. I won’t be silent . Just saw it live sry,” she wrote in a since-deleted tweet.
On Sunday, June 19, LeBron James led the Cavaliers to an incredible win in Game 7, earning the team its first NBA title. Ayesha returned to Twitter shortly after to congratulate the Warriors on their effort and record-breaking season.
“Proud of our men! #DUBNATION #WARRIORS,” she wrote. “That was an insane season. Can’t deny it. Proud proud proud. Heart. Fight and Passion.”
However, social media users quickly reminded Ayesha of her controversial tweet from earlier in the week — and some even taunted her and hubby Steph with a series of harsh memes.
“That’s not what you really wanted to say,” one Twitter user replied to the chef. Another person replied with a GIF of the couple’s 3-year-old daughter, Riley, saying, “Be quiet,” during one of her dad’s previous post-game press conferences.
“LeBron wears the pants in your relationship,” another user nudged.
Rihanna also poked fun at the Warriors point guard, posting a picture of him looking somber after the game. “‘Ballin bigger than Lebron’ they said,” she captioned the shot of Stephen, referencing lyrics from her 2015 hit “Bitch Better Have My Money.”
She later posted a photo of James, 31, holding his championship and MVP trophies, writing, “Who y’all think y’all frontin’ on???! #NeverLoseFaith #Champ #MVP #History #KingJames #OnYourTurf.”
