Calling it quits! Bachelor in Paradise’s Carly Waddell has broken up with her boyfriend Erik DiNardo after six months of dating, Us Weekly can exclusively confirm. The season 2 alum opened up about why she and her fellow Nashville singer-songwriter decided to split earlier this month, on February 15.
“Erik and I broke up the day after Valentine’s Day,” Waddell, 29, tells Us. “It was really sad and completely unexpected, on both of our parts.”
The reality star (who competed for Chris Soules’ heart on season 19 of The Bachelor before heading to Paradise) once gushed at the beginning of their relationship that DiNardo was “the best human." Recently she realized that they were on separate paths.
“We figured out that we both were wanting different things in the future,” she divulges. “So we called it off before it got even more serious, which was hard when you love someone.”
While ending things with her now former beau was a tough task for Waddell, she knew it would be best to cut ties sooner than later.
“In the long run it would be even harder to do … but it would also be inevitable,” she explains. “I am just one of those ‘everything happens for a reason’ people. … So I can’t live in yesterday and I don’t want to.”
As she looks forward to the future, the “Blindsided” songstress is grateful for the time she spent with DiNardo.
“I’m super-thankful for Erik because we wrote a badass song for Jade [Tolbert]’s wedding,” she says. “I’m thankful for him for a million reasons.”
Waddell previously dated her Bachelor in Paradise costar Kirk DeWindt in 2015.
