Over You… just like that. On the first day of fall, a newly single Blake Shelton finally opened up about his surprise (and super speedy) summertime divorce from his ex-wife Miranda Lambert. See pics of the couple before the split.
The country superstars shocked their legions of devoted fans back in July, when they announced that they were splitting after four years of marriage. Within hours of their separation news, Us revealed that their divorce was already finalized.
"In Oklahoma, it happens so fast," Shelton, 39, told the Bobby Bones Show on Wednesday, Sept. 23. "Like, Miranda and I didn't have any kids, and we had a prenuptial agreement, whatever we had. Once we filed for divorce, it was over in, like, I think it was like a nine or 10-day waiting period until it's over."
As Us exclusively reported at the time, the couple divvied up their assets accordingly: Lambert, 31, got the couple's Nashville property, while Shelton kept his Oklahoma ranch. Their speedy agreement allowed an Oklahoma judge to quickly sign off on the divorce documents.
"We knew if rumblings and rumors started coming out, they would just be that," Shelton told the radio program. "By the time anybody knew anything, it was over… It was done."
Though sources told Us at the time that Shelton and Lambert were equally "heartbroken" and "devastated," the singers put up a united front in the days following their split — especially via social media.
"Our whole thing was, we are going to be cool about this, it is what it is," Shelton recalled of their surprisingly friendly interaction in the days after their split announcement. "We're buddies."
