Brad Pitt is Angelina Jolie's longtime love and the father of six, but he's played a lot of other roles throughout his career.
In the 47-year-old actor's film Moneyball, opening Friday, Pitt plays a baseball manager trying to assemble a club on a strict budget with the help of technology. Throughout his long career on the silver screen, the Oscar-nominee has played everything from a Greek hero (Troy) to a rough Irish traveler (Snatch) to the Dalai Lama's BFF (Seven Years in Tibet).
For his role in 2008's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Pitt played a man who began aging backwards. This required him to play the character at all ages throughout his life — from an infant to a senior citizen.
It was on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith (in 2005) that Pitt fell in love with Jolie, 36. In the action comedy, the duo played a bored married couple, both working secretly as assassins but hiding it from each other. When they were assigned the same target, their covers were blown and they had to choose between their jobs or their love.
But Pitt's countless roles haven't consumed his personal life. "You hear stories of intense actors who can't shed their character and who don't know who they are for a week or two after. I'm not that guy, man," he told the UK's Guardian in June. "My happiest moment is the day they call wrap and I'm free. I'm not looking back."
