Bradley Cooper and Chris Evans are mama’s boys at heart! The Silver Linings Playbook star and The Avengers presenter both brought their mothers to the 85th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 24.
The Best Actor in a Leading Role nominee, 38, walked the red carpet in Hollywood with his mom, Gloria Cooper, who lives in Philadelphia, where Silver Linings Playbook is set. “It’s incredible to be here with my mom and to be here with this movie that Robert De Niro is in,” Bradley told E! News.
Gloria added that she was elated for her son to be in the company of fellow honorees Daniel Day-Lewis (Lincoln), Hugh Jackman (Les Miserables), Joaquin Phoenix (The Master) and Denzel Washington (Flight). “I was very excited,” she said of her son’s nomination. “He did a lot for the movie. It’s very exciting. It’s my first Oscars!”
Evans, meanwhile, chose to bring his mother, Lisa Evans, in lieu of girlfriend Minka Kelly. “She’s so excited,” the 31-year-old actor said, pointing to his Massachusetts-based mother. “It’s nice to remember how exciting and fun this stuff can be. Being with her brings all that back.”
The actor, who later appeared on stage with his Avengers costars Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo and Samuel L. Jackson, explained that he was excited to share the Oscar experience with his mom. “You’re surrounded by a lot of people who are phenomenally talented,” he said during ABC’s red carpet pre-show. “It’s kind of like a dream.”
