Bruce Jenner Threatening to Sue Over “Illegally Obtained” Dress Photos

Bruce Jenner
Bruce Jenner is threatening to sue CNN and the New York Daily News over the "illegally obtained" photos of him wearing a striped dress outside his home, which were printed and broadcasted last week, his rep tells Us Weekly.

There's a serious debate over this dress. Bruce Jenner has threatened legal action after "illegally obtained" photos of him wearing a dress outside of his Malibu home were published last week by multiple media outlets, his rep tells Us Weekly.

In the offending (and super blurry) snapshots, the 65-year-old former Olympian wears a black-and-white-striped maxi dress and holds a cigarette. The poor-quality photos then made the front page of the New York Daily News, and were subsequently broadcasted during a CNN segment called "Caught on Camera: Bruce Jenner's New Look?"

The images, which were taken with a long-shot lens, are believed to have been shot from as far as a mile away. Both the Daily News and CNN pulled the images from their websites days later.

Jenner's spokesperson told Us on Tuesday, April 28: "Both Daily News and CNN pulled the photos sold to them by X17 once they found out they were illegally obtained. The agency no longer is selling those photos [since] they confirmed they were shot illegally. Under California law, photographers can be found liable for invasion of privacy for using telephoto lenses to capture images of people engaged in 'personal or familial activity.'"

Marty Singer, the star's lawyer, added: "The photos were clearly unlawfully taken from a very long distance using an enhancement device. Bruce Jenner is going to enforce his right to privacy."

Jenner's threat over legal action comes just four days after his powerful two-hour special with Diane Sawyer aired last Friday. During the interview, the father of six kids and four stepkids said point-blank: "I am a woman," and discussed his plans to transition from male to female.

While Jenner declined to wear a dress during his special, the star revealed a beautiful black dress from his closet that he later wore to dinner with Sawyer. "And the good news, Diane," he told the veteran ABC News journalist, "is you won't be the tallest girl in the room—isn't that wonderful?" (Sawyer told viewers in the voice-over: "And by the way, that night [at dinner], she looked great and really happy.")

He also shared his plans for his future home. "In the next house I am building a glam room," Jenner told Sawyer as she held up the black dress featuring sheer panels. "We're going to totally rock this place!"
