Update: A source close to Calvin Harris denies that Harris was the source of the Instagram comments below, and says an impostor posted them.
Original Story: Straight from the horse’s mouth! Calvin Harris responded to commenters on Instagram on Thursday, June 23, about his breakup from Taylor Swift and her new romance with Tom Hiddleston.
According to screenshots of his account taken by fans, the producer/DJ, 32, told his followers that Swift “controlled the media and this situation. I had no idea what was going on. So that kind of makes it a lot worse from my perspective.”
When another fan asked why he unfollowed Swift on social media only to follow her again on Wednesday, June 23, he explained: “I cared too much and then I didn’t care at all. I am a real person remember.”
Harris also denied that he’s jealous of Swift, 26, who started dating Hiddleston just two weeks after their split. “Not jealous sir, FREE,” he wrote to one questioning fan.
Most telling of the since-deleted comments captured by fan accounts, however, read: “Bro I didn’t leave anyone and she’s def not sad. It’s all good.”
He also credited fan account @butikeepswifting for seemingly getting the story right.
“For all we know Taylor broke up with him to be with another man and this is quite upsetting. I would be hurt by that too. He’s not being mean. He deserves to feel free while he’s single and not feel jealous,” the account posted on Thursday, June 23, to which Harris responded: “@butikeepswifting you’re the only smart one at this point.”
As previously reported by Us Weekly, Swift and Harris broke up after 15 months of dating because it just wasn’t working anymore. Two weeks after Us confirmed their split, The Sun published photos of Swift kissing Hiddleston, 35, on the beach in Rhode Island. A source told Us at the time that Harris was “blindsided” by the photos and new romance.
Hiddleston, however, knew exactly what he was doing.
In the new issue of Us Weekly, on newsstands now, sources tell Us that the British actor “courted” Swift as soon as he learned she was single. “He liked her and saw an opportunity when she was suddenly single, and he went for it,” an insider tells Us, while another adds that Harris is over the drama.
“Calvin thinks the photos with Tom were handled very badly,” a source close to the DJ says. “He just wants to move on.”
