It all started after Malik seemingly took a jab at Harris’ girlfriend, Taylor Swift, retweeting a tweet that compared Swift and Miley Cyrus’ views on paying for music.

“@FemaleTexts @zaynmalik You've made your money? Cool…f—k the 99% of musicians who depend on these services to survive right? Yeah F—k em,” Harris tweeted at Malik, referring to streaming services like Spotify. In a follow-up tweet, he added: “If u don't get what it means when a successful artist uses their celebrity to benefit every other musician and songwriter in the industry…stay out my f—kin mentions pls."

“While u kids are refresh voting teen choice awards there's some poor f—ker in a basement making your new favorite record trying to survive,” he continued. “Meaning…stay out of things you don’t understand.”

Malik, 22, responded to the DJ soon after. “@CalvinHarris ha you just made an absolute fool of yourself mate,” he tweeted, adding, “you clearly didn’t understand what I just said either…so I suggest you calm your knickers before them dentures fall out…Oh and I write my own s—t too d—knead,” he concluded.

Harris, 31, acknowledged Malik’s tweets with a simple “lol,” before waving the white flag. “@zaynmalik all good, it was the quote not you personally mate…best of luck, genuinely. You’ve got a great voice.”

This isn’t Malik’s first Twitter clash, of course. On Sunday, the “Best Song Ever” singer bashed his ex-fiancee Perrie Edwards’ group Little Mix online. Malik retweeted a tweet that read: “Which is the better single? Retweet – ‘Worth It’ by Fifth Harmony. Favorite – ‘Black Magic’ by Little Mix.”

In March, Malik exited One Direction to pursue an independent music career. He signed with RCA Records in July, weeks before calling off his engagement to Edwards earlier this month.
