Leave a little something to the imagination, will ya? Chloë Grace Moretz explained in a recent interview with Net-a-Porter’s The EDIT why dating can be extra tough for Hollywood actresses.
“They’ve seen you in sex scenes in movies, they know what you look like crying,” the 19-year-old star of Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising said of potential love interests. “And they can read your interviews and know your favorite bands so it feels like they have all this in common with you. … Happens a lot. I’ll think, ‘How are we vibing so hard right now?’ Then I realize, and I don’t care anymore, I just go back to work.”
Moretz, who recently made her red carpet debut with boyfriend Brooklyn Beckham, added that on the flip side, one of the perks of dating someone else who is in the industry is that they “understand the travel, the sex scenes with random people, [and] the crazy schedules.”
The pair, who sparked rumors of romance as far back as August 2014, have long denied their relationship (in the EDIT interview, Moretz coyly said she and Beckham, 17, are “just good friends”), but in recent weeks, the couple has copped to the fact that they’re dating.
“We’re in a relationship, it’s fine, it’s no biggie,” the actress said on a May 9 episode of Watch What Happens Live. “I think the more I don’t make it mysterious the more people don’t care, so yes, we’re in a relationship. Very exciting news I’m sure.”
In the June 2016 issue of Glamour, Moretz explained that she has always been protected from any ill-intentioned boys because of her four older brothers, Trevor, Ethan, Brandon and Colin.
“They peeled back when I turned 18, but yeah, it’s like I have four bodyguards,” she said. “When a guy comes to the house to pick me up for a date, I enjoy them answering the door, shaking his hand, and then him being like, ‘Your brothers are kind of scary.’ I’m like, ‘They are definitely very scary.’ I enjoy the power of that.”
