Chrissy Teigen‘s face said it all at the 2016 Oscars. The pregnant model, 30, was caught grimacing on camera during Stacey Dash‘s bizarre appearance at the awards ceremony on Sunday, February 28 — but as she told Robin Roberts on Good Morning America on Tuesday, March 1, she wasn’t the only one cringing.
“Our whole area was still talking about it well into the Sarah Silverman segment because we were just so floored by the silence,” Teigen said of Dash’s “Happy Black History Month” cameo. “And it was so funny to see Chris [Rock] and Kevin [Hart] both look at each other like, ‘Oh man, that was weird.’ It was so funny to us.”
She went on to explain that she’s not good at hiding her feelings behind a stoic expression. “You know, I gotta show my face,” she told Roberts. “I can’t hold it in.”
Not surprisingly, the moment went viral online. And while Teigen didn’t know immediately why she was blowing up, she did know she had done something noteworthy.
“My phone was going insane. I was like, ‘What have I done now?'” she said on GMA. “Because you can’t tell when the cameras are on. There’s no red light [there]. You have no idea. I can’t believe I did it again though.”
As fans no doubt remember, Teigen also went viral at the 2015 Golden Globes, when tweeters zeroed in on a screenshot of the Lip Sync Battle star crying after her husband, John Legend, won the best original song award for “Glory” from Selma.
“I still get sent the one from the Globes,” she revealed on Tuesday. “So now I have another year of this happening.” Not that she minds. “I love seeing my Instagrams right now though, because people are turning it into all sorts of different memes,” she told Roberts. “I love it.”
