No monster-in-law here! Courteney Cox's fiance Johnny McDaid's mom, Pauline McDaid, gushed to Northern Ireland's Sunday Life that she loves the Cougar Town actress.
"We all love her," Pauline told the paper, adding that the Friends alum "felt at home" during her recent trip with the Snow Patrol rocker to his hometown of Derry, where she spent time with Pauline "shopping up the town."
While visiting her future husband's hometown, Pauline told the paper the 50-year-old was "extremely empathetic" when it came to visiting the city's iconic Peace Bridge, which the paper says McDaid's late father was instrumental in bringing to the northwest, just weeks before he lost his battle with cancer, Pauline said.
"Courteney was very anxious to see John's home and we took her around and showed her where John grew up," Pauline shared. "And she is a very empathetic person, so visiting the Peace Bridge was a big thing for her. We also went up to the grave, and that was quite, well, as you can imagine…John is obviously upset that his daddy isn't going to meet her," the retired art teacher said.
The trip also marked the rocker's 38th birthday celebration. Aside from being feted by close family and friends, Pauline told the paper close friend Ed Sheeran also surprised McDaid.
"Ed Sheeran turned up for it," Pauline said of the bash. "He surprised John, flew in from Ibiza. John and him work very closely together. It was Ed that introduced them, so that was special. We were keeping it all very quiet and then Ed tweeted that he loved his stay in Derry, so it was out!" Pauline added.
Cox's future mother-in-law went on to gush that her son couldn't be more in love. "They are head over heels in love, and it is lovely to see how happy they are together," she concluded.
McDaid popped the question to the Cougar Town actress while on vacation in Turks and Caicos celebrating her 50th birthday in June. The couple, who first stepped out together in December 2013, then adorably announced their engagement simultaneously on Twitter on June 26. Cox was previously married to David Arquette for nearly 14 years.
