Making him sweat it out! David Arquette is now happily engaged to fiancee Christina McLarty, but it turns out that the actor had to propose twice before the entertainment reporter said "yes."
"We were at a restaurant in Malibu," McLarty recalled to Aspen Peak magazine's Erin Lentz, via Page Six.
Arquette chimed in: "I take her outside…and then I ask her, and she's like, 'No, what are you doing? There are so many people watching!'" He added: "I had a do-over, and it worked."
As previously reported, Arquette and McLarty got engaged on July 2, after dating on and off for three years. (The couple are already parents to 2-month-old son Charlie West.)
He "planned it for a while," an insider told Us Weekly of the proposal. He's "known he wanted to marry Christina for a long time." At the time, McLarty told Us exclusively that she feels "like the luckiest girl in the world."
Coincidentally, Arquette's ex-wife Courteney Cox announced her engagement to Snow Patrol rocker Johnny McDaid just days earlier. The exes, who split in 2012 after nearly 11 years of marriage, share daughter Coco, 10.
