You may recognize Madison De La Garza as the little girl who played Juanita Solis, Eva Longoria’s on-screen daughter, on Desperate Housewives. Or perhaps you know her as Demi Lovato’s younger half-sister. But regardless, you probably won’t recognize her in her new photo shoot for Seventeen magazine.
The now 13-year-old actress has blossomed into a stunning teen, and opened up about what it is like to be Lovato’s younger sis.
“I think when people say they wish Demi Lovato was their sister, they don’t realize how hard it is to be related to someone who’s constantly away on tour,” De La Garza told the magazine. “But she’s good at making time for me. We text constantly, and whenever she sees a funny tweet, she’ll screenshot it and send it to our family group message. When Demi is home, our relationship is just like any sisters’. We get fro-yo and watch the ID channel — we’re obsessed — and we talk about anything and everything. I know I can trust her with it all.”
The positive body image spokesgirl also noted that the “Cool for the Summer” songstress, 22, goes out of her way to defend her online.
“Last year I got a ton of negative comments after I posted a Vine on Twitter where I was cooking with Demi,” De La Garza remembered. “People made fun of me, saying I had a hunchback. Demi freaked and direct-messaged people to yell at them, and she tweeted at her followers to stand up for me. Sometimes I wish she wouldn’t give people attention — I’ve learned not to — but when people hate on me, she can’t really hold back. She’s strong and she’s a free spirit, and that’s what I love about her.”?
The pop star previously admitted that her sister’s love was one of the main reasons she sought treatment back in 2010 for her various addictions. The half-siblings share mom Dianna Lee Hart.
“I tell Madison to call me as much as possible,” Lovato told Seventeen. “I want her to come to me with things. I just let her know that I’m always there for her, whether I’m on the other side of the world or I’m next door.”?
