Her lips are sealed — sort of! Demi Lovato sparked rumors that’s she’s bisexual while promoting her smash hit “Cool for the Summer” during the British TV show Alan Carr: Chatty Man on Friday, Sept. 11.
The former Disney star, 23, spoke about her sexuality when host Alan Carr asked if the song, which has lyrics such as “got a taste for the cherry” and “I’m a little curious too,” was about lesbianism.
“I am not confirming and I’m definitely not denying,” Lovato said as she received a round of applause. “All of my songs are based off of personal experiences. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with experimentation at all.”
She added: “If a very popular male artist in one of his songs came out and said, ‘I’m experimenting,’ — if a guy sang this song that was straight — it would be such an uproar. But there’s a confidence to a man that would say, ‘I’ve experimented with a man,’ and not care. I actually find that more attractive than saying, ‘No, no, no, that’s so wrong!'”
These days, Lovato only has eyes for one person — Wilmer Valderrama, whom she’s been dating since 2010. Nevertheless, she admits that her experimentation has “stuck” with her.
“I experimented once and it stuck,” Carr, who is gay, laughed. Lovato quipped: “Hey, I didn’t say that it didn’t stick either. I didn’t say that it didn’t stick.”
