Master of disguise? Gisele Bundchen was reportedly photographed wearing a burqa to conceal her identity in Paris, France, earlier this month.
According to the New York Post, the world's highest-paid supermodel allegedly donned the garment — traditionally worn by Muslim women — to go incognito at a high-end private medical clinic in the French metropolis. The Post claims she was with her sister Rafaela, also disguised in a burqa.
Pictures from outside the clinic on July 15 show two women exiting a black Mercedes driven by Bundchen's regular chauffeur. "Her driver is very well known here," an eyewitness tells Us Weekly.
One of the women in the photos carried a black backpack into the clinic — a bag identical to the one Rafaela was seen carrying at Charles de Gaulle airport a week later, when she and Bundchen left France on separate flights. Both ladies also wore open-toed sandals, which is said to be forbidden among Muslim women.
The Post claims that Bundchen and her sister disguised themselves so they could get plastic surgery at the clinic. From there, the paper says, they headed to the luxe Le Sources de Caudalie Spa to recover.
Bundchen, who retired from the runway in April, has yet to address the reports. And a source at the clinic tells Us they have "no comment" on the matter. "Client confidentiality is of paramount importance," the source says.
According to a Paris police spokesman, burqas are actually illegal in Paris. Back in 2010, the city introduced a law that prohibits anyone from covering their face in a public place.
