He may have been presenting Collaboration of the Year at the 2015 American Music Awards on Sunday, Nov. 22, but Sean Diddy Combs reminded his fans of a rather personal collaboration he had back in the late ’90s.
After asking the audience to cheer for the most recent performer The Weeknd, Diddy, 46, then declared, “Can we give it up for Jennifer Lopez one time?”
The evening’s host, also 46, was not on stage at the time, but the famed rapper and producer’s shout-out gave fans major “Puffy” flashbacks.
Later in the evening, the former flames had fun together at Lopez’s private afterparty at the Hyde Sunset Kitchen + Cocktails in West Hollywood. They were photographed goofing off and laughing together at the soiree. Though the exes were clearly having a blast, don’t expect a J.Lo and Puffy romantic reunion anytime soon. An eyewitness from the event tells Us Weekly that Lopez and her on-off love Casper Smart couldn’t keep their hands off each another.
The pair dated from 1999 to 2001, and were together when Diddy was arrested on weapons violations in Manhattan. They split in 2001 after J.Lo claimed he had been cheating on her. “I never caught him but I just knew. He’d say he was going to a club for a couple of hours and then never come back that night,” Lopez told Vibe magazine in 2003.
Diddy had an on-off romance with his girlfriend Kimberly Porter until 2007. Lopez moved on to a series of high-profile relationships. Shortly after dating Diddy, she wed dancer Cris Judd from 2001 to 2003, moving onto fellow singer Marc Anthony, who she wed in 2004; the couple, who share twins Max and Emme, 7, divorced in 2014. Since that split, she and dancer-choreographer Smart have been in an on-off romance.
