He further claims that the alleged victims offered the rapper drugs. "It's nonsense," he says of the robbery story, adding that DMX (real name Earl Simmons) "didn't rob" anyone. "Earl makes enough money," Richman tells Us. "He's doing very very well. What the heck did they make these allegations for?"
DMX and his entourage have been accused of robbery by a man in Newark, N.J., multiple news outlets reported on Sunday, April 5, and Monday, April 6. According to the reports, no charges have been filed against the rapper, but police are investigating the man's claims.
The alleged victim, a 21-year-old Newark resident, reportedly encountered DMX at an Exxon station early Sunday morning, at around 12:30 a.m. Per NBC News, he told police he had a short conversation with the Ruff Ryders rapper about music, after which a member of the star's entourage allegedly flashed a gun and asked for money.
As noted by ABC, the man claims he had just cashed his paycheck and had $3,200 in bills on him. He told officials that DMX took the money and then left in one of four black Escalades belonging to his entourage.
The alleged victim and his friend reportedly followed the cars to get a license plate number. They also say the incident was caught on camera — a claim DMX's lawyer denies.
"The allegations are unequivocally and utterly false," attorney Murray Richman told ABC News of the purported incident. He added that "any videotape would be dispositive."
