Too far? Donald Trump made more than his fair share of polarizing comments at the GOP debate on Thursday, Aug. 6, but one specific remark about Rosie O'Donnell has the Apprentice star in the hot seat.
Trump, 69, took the stage in Cleveland alongside fellow presidential hopefuls Chris Christie, Marco Rubio, Ben Carson, Scott Walker, Jeb Bush, Mike Huckabee, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and John Kasich, and fielded questions from Fox News moderators. At one point during the debate, Megyn Kelly said to Trump, "You've called women you don't like 'fat pigs,' 'dogs,' 'slobs,' and 'disgusting animals'…"
Before Kelly had a chance to pose a question to the controversial candidate, he interjected, holding up his pointer finger as he prepared to speak. "Only Rosie O'Donnell," Trump said of his previous disparaging comments, earning a laugh from the crowd.
Some Trump supporters celebrated the joke, with one fan even tweeting at the real estate mogul to tell him that it was "the best answer of that whole debate." Others, however, were less than amused with Trump's cheap shot.
O'Donnell herself did not respond directly to the insult, but tweeted soon after, writing simply, "try explaining that 2 ur kids."
This is hardly the first time that the View alum, 53, has found herself facing off against Trump. The two have famously feuded for years, with Trump tweeting last year, "Rosie is crude, rude, obnoxious and dumb — other than that I like her very much!"
