What would The Dowager Countess say?! Downton Abbey costars Laura Carmichael and Michael Fox are dating — and there’s a cute photo to prove it!
The couple were spotted shopping in London on Saturday, March 5. A striking change from her Lady Edith Crawley pearls and grand dresses, Carmichael went without makeup during the afternoon outing. She wore ripped jeans, a black jacket, boots and a hat. Fox wore a sweatshirt and peacoat.

Carmichael, 29, played the second daughter of Robert Crawley (Hugh Bonneville) and Cora Crawley (Elizabeth McGovern) for six seasons on the PBS/Masterpiece drama from 2011 to 2015. Fox joined the critically acclaimed series as servant Andy Parker in 2014.
The lovebirds’ rare appearance came one day before the series finale of Downton Abbey in the States. The two-hour episode originally aired in the U.K. on Christmas Day.

Rumors swirled back in January that Carmichael and Fox’s offscreen friendship had blossomed into romance. Carmichael’s always unlucky-in-love Edith also got a happy ending on the beloved show’s sendoff. As fans know by now, after much on-and-off turmoil and narrowly averted scandal involving her illegitimate child, Marigold, Edith wed Bertie Pelham (Harry Hadden-Paton) in the show’s final episode, making her the Marquess of Hexham in the process.
