Saved by bail! Dustin Diamond, aka Screech from Saved by the Bell, appeared in court on Monday, Dec. 29, after allegedly stabbing a man during a bar fight on Christmas.
Wearing a turtleneck and jacket, the sitcom alum appeared before a judge with his fiancée Amanda Schutz at Ozaukee County Courthouse in Port Washington, Wisconsin.
As previously reported by Us Weekly, Diamond was arrested early Friday morning for possession of a switchblade and charged with reckless endangerment, carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct following a bar brawl. “At approximately 11:15 p.m. on Thursday, December 25, 2014, the Port Washington Police Department responded to the Grand Ave. Saloon for reports of a stabbing,” the Port Washington P.D. confirmed in a statement to Us. “Evidence quickly gathered at the scene indicates a male, age 37, had stabbed another male patron and left the bar in a white SUV with his 27-year-old girlfriend. Officers quickly located the suspect vehicle and suspects and took both into custody.”
Diamond, who lives in Port Washington, did not speak in court and according to The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel posted the $10,000 bail. According to TMZ, prior to appearing in court, Diamond enjoyed the jail’s sloppy joe, beans, coleslaw and a peanut butter bar.
Outside the courthouse, Diamond’s attorney Thomas Alberti told reporters that “Dustin has complete faith in the justice system” but that he was “not happy he missed the Packers game” while in jail.
Diamond’s next court hearing is scheduled for Jan. 5.
