To paraphrase Kanye West, that stuff's cray! Eddie Cibrian calls the latest rumors of marital trouble with wife LeAnn Rimes "crazy" and "absurd."
The 40-year-old actor opened up to Entertainment Tonight on Saturday, Nov. 2 during a press junket for his new film The Best Man Holiday about the persistent and pesky speculation of his allegedly troubled relationship with Rimes. "[The divorce, affair rumors have] been going on for so long," said Cibrian who has been married to Rimes, 31, since 2011. "They're just absurd, and to give any validity to any of these things, it's crazy," he added.
A source tells Us Weekly, "They've been laughing off rumors of his infidelity. They really don't take all the reports too seriously and have been doing fine." Cibrian and the country singer presented a united front on Friday to quell the whispers, by holding hands and smiling for the paparazzi while shopping in Malibu. Just one day before, the two dressed as Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton for Halloween.
The couple, also executive producers of their reality show on VH1 aptly named LeAnn & Eddie, told Us Weekly in a statement in August, "We are really excited to be working together on a unique show that will give you a glimpse into who we really are or better yet who we're really not."
The pair became one of the most controversial couples in recent Hollywood history after Us Weekly revealed their 2009 extramarital affair on the set of Northern Lights. Cibrian and Rimes subsequently went public with their relationship, divorced their significant others (Cibrian was married to Brandi Glanville, also the mother of his two sons; Rimes was wed to dancer/chef Dean Sheremet) and got hitched in 2011.
Despite their rocky road to marital bliss, Cibrian insisted in his interview with ET, "We have such a great marriage — very functional." He cheekily added, "We just decided to do a [reality] show to screw that all up."
