Emile Hirsch is taking action to change his ways. According to TMZ, the Lone Survivor actor has checked into rehab following an incident at Sundance last month, which resulted in him being charged with aggravated assault.
As previously reported, the 29-year-old star was charged on Thursday, Feb. 12, weeks after he allegedly put a woman — studio exec Daniele Bernfeld — in a chokehold at a nightclub in Park City, Utah. Investigators told the Associated Press that he grabbed Bernfeld from behind and pulled her across a table.
Attorney Robert Offer told TMZ that the actor was intoxicated at the time. "Emile consumed an enormous amount of alcohol on the evening in question and he has no memory of what happened," he said in a statement to the site.
He added: "Emile takes these allegations very seriously, and is devastated that any of this has occurred. A few days after the incident, Emile sought help and checked himself into an alcohol rehabilitation facility, where he remains today, to ensure nothing like this ever happens again."
Hirsch was at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival to promote his upcoming movie Ten Thousand Saints. Per the AP, his first court appearance has been scheduled for March 16.
