The Moulin Rouge! star, who looked smart in a sleek black suit with red detailing, was keen to do well in the game, making sure he had all the rules straight before he started his performance. But despite a valiant attempt, his efforts to act out Bride of Frankenstein to musician Tweedy were in vain.

The Scottish actor even accused Fallon of cheating when he came up with the correct answer effortlessly, following Tweedy’s failure (“You’ve been here all day, you could’ve looked at them!” he protested).

Not that he needed to worry too much that Fallon and Barkley were going to storm into the lead. Fallon’s attempts to act out Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reduced the crowd to hysterics, especially as Barkley had evidently forgotten the basic rules of charades.

“That was awful,” the NBA giant complained to Fallon, after wrongly guessing Karate Kid.

McGregor, who is due to make his Broadway debut in The Real Thing on Friday, Oct. 31, then stole the lead by managing to keep his cool and guess Tweedy’s offerings. Not that it was enough to win the game!
