As the investigation into the death of Seattle mom Ingrid Lyne continues, homicide detectives found flesh, blood and a 15-inch pruning saw in the bathroom of Lyne's home.
Jennifer Worley, a King County prosecutor, said during a court hearing on Tuesday, April 12, that investigators found bits of human flesh and blood in the bathtub drain near the saw during a search over the weekend.
Court papers also reveal that an empty box of plastic garbage bags identical to the type used to dispose of Lyne's body parts in a recycling bin was also found in her Renton, Washington, home.
John Robert Charlton is being held on $2 million bail and could face a second-degree murder charge in the death of the mother of three, who was reported missing on Saturday, April 9.
The 40-year-old had texted a friend on Friday night, telling them she was on a date at a Mariners baseball game, according to the Seattle Times.
Charlton later told police that he had been dating Lyne for about a month. According to court papers, he said he went to the game with her on Friday and returned to her home, but was so intoxicated he couldn't recall what happened when they got there.
Police said Charlton, who appeared in court on Tuesday, had abrasions on his forehead and left hand, injuries to his lip and chin, and scratches on his chest, but the Associated Press reports that his public defender, Gordon Hill, told the court that no forensic evidence had linked any particular person to the crime.
Charlton has an extensive criminal history that includes convictions for felony theft, aggravated robbery and assault, according to court papers.
In 2006, his parents filed a petition for an order of protection against their son after he arrived at their home angry and apparently intoxicated, the Seattle Times reports. Charlton reportedly removed a copy of the movie Hannibal from a shelf and set it in front of his mother, telling her she should watch the film and beware. The 2001 movie is a sequel to Silence of the Lambs, starring Anthony Hopkins as a cannibalistic serial killer.
Lyne's family released a statement on Tuesday, saying their hearts are broken over the nurse's death.
"This weekend, a light went out of our lives forever," the statement said, according to the Associated Press. "Ingrid, beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend was taken from us for reasons we still cannot comprehend."
KIRO reports that charges are expected on Thursday, April 14, and an arraignment date will be set after that.
