The happy couple were joined for their celebrations by their family and friends, including Matt Damon, his wife Luciana Barroso, Vogue's Anna Wintour, Rande Gerber, Cindy Crawford, Bill Murray, Bono, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski.

Rome's former mayor, Walter Veltroni, a personal friend of Clooney's, conducted the ceremony in the stunning 16th Century hotel, which only opened a year ago and has the ambience of a private palazzo.

The couple's florists, Munaretto, have been working hard for the past few days, transforming the stunning building into a romantic wedding venue.

"Staff were preparing bouquets, table arrangements and other floral designs well into the night," a hotel source told Us of the preparations on Friday, Sept. 26. "Everything they were using was white with green flourishes, lots of roses and peonies being used."

Now that the official ceremony is over, guests are retiring to the hotel's garden for canapés and photographs, before returning inside for a five course banquet, prepared by Italian chef Riccardo De Pra, before the speeches begin.

A source told Us Rande Gerber's speech is going to be mischievous. "He's going to have a lot of fun with George," the source said. "They want people to be laughing and happy during the weekend celebrations."

Today's festivities are just part of a weekend-long celebration for Clooney and his new bride. On Friday, Sept. 26, guests split into male and female parties, boarding boats bound for pre-wedding bachelor and bachelorette parties at different venues in the beautiful Italian city.

This morning, the wedding party relaxed over a leisurely breakfast at Venice's Cipriani Hotel hosted by Alamuddin's parents, Baria and Ramzi. Tomorrow evening, Sunday, Sept. 28, another spectacular dinner is planned at the hotel's 19th century Granaries of the Republic, which has been decorated with flowers and stunning crystal chandeliers.

Clooney and the British lawyer were first spotted together in October 2013 and got engaged in April after a whirlwind romance. "This is the healthiest relationship I've ever seen George in," a source previously told Us. "He seems incredibly happy, and Amal is such a sweet and intelligent girl, who has her own thoughts and ideas and doesn't just bow down to everything he says."

This is the first marriage for Alamuddin and the second for Clooney. The actor was wed to actress Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993 and previously dated Lisa Snowdon, Elisabetta Canalis, and Stacy Keibler. Canalis is set to wed orthopedic surgeon Brian Perri in Italy Sunday. Keibler and husband Jared Pobre welcomed baby girl Ava in August.
