No selfies at school! Gordon Ramsay revealed his biggest failure in a new interview with Vegas magazine, and it involves taking a selfie at an inopportune moment.
“I have failed. I failed at turning up for parents evening at my kids’ school,” the MasterChef host, 49, joked. “And then when I went to the next one with my youngest, Tilly, I asked the headmaster for a selfie, after which I got kicked out, and so I really f–ked that one up!”
The next day, the celebrity chef got a message saying that he wasn’t welcome back again. “I received an email saying, ‘Can you please refrain from the next parents evening — we do not need the presence of Mr. Ramsay,” he recalled.
Ramsay and his wife, Tana, are parents of four children: Megan, 18, twins Holly and Jack, 16, and Matilda, 14. The couple announced earlier this summer that they were expecting another child, but Tana suffered a miscarriage five months into her pregnancy. “We’re together healing as a family, but we want to thank everyone again for all your amazing support and well wishes,” the Hell’s Kitchen host wrote on Facebook in June.
In the Vegas magazine interview, the culinary expert also addressed his tenacious personality and foul mouth on camera. “The jacket goes on and I become a different beast because it’s about standards and I want to be remembered for that,” he said. “So am I hamming it up for the camera because I think it looks good? Far from it. It’s real. So that level of passion gets misconstrued for anger. I’m live, it’s just the way I am.”
However, he acknowledges that at times he’s been too harsh. “There are times I’ve felt I’ve gone too far but yeah, I’ve made amends to pull it back up and put it back on track,” he told the magazine. “It’s all or nothing.”
