Daddy’s girl! Ivanka Trump has no problem with her father Donald Trump’s controversial, often offensive comments about women. In a new interview with CNN, the pregnant mother of two talked about Donald’s campaign.
“Look, my father is very blunt. He’s very direct,” Ivanka, 33, said. “He is not gender specific in his criticism of people, and people that he doesn’t particularly like or people that he does like but thinks they’re wrong on a particular issue. So I don’t think that he’s gender-targeted at all.”
To further prove her point, Ivanka noted her own high position as the Executive Vice President of Development & Acquisitions at The Trump Organization.
“I wouldn’t be the person I am today, I wouldn’t be a high-level executive within his organization if he felt that way,” she said.
The former Celebrity Apprentice host, 69, has taken aim at several women throughout his run, including GOP debate moderator Megyn Kelly, whom he said had “blood coming out of her wherever,” and opponent Carly Fiorina, whom he slammed for her looks, saying, “Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that?”
Ivanka herself wants to redefine the stereotypes facing “businesswomen” to show that they are “multi-dimensional.”
“I do think there’s this unfortunate and prevailing depiction of the working women as, you know, wearing a black pantsuit and being solely focused on her professional role,” she continued. “And that’s just not true. And hopefully I can be a small part of changing the narrative around what it looks like to be a woman who works today.”
Ivanka also noted that her longtime friendship with Chelsea Clinton — whose mom, Hillary Clinton, is running for the Democratic nomination — hasn’t taken a hit as a result of Donald’s relentless barbs throughout the presidential race.
“It has not been an issue for us,” she said of their parents’ rivalry. “I have great respect for her, she’s been a great friend to me. I’ve been a great friend to her. So, you know, the politics of our parents is not relevant to our friendship.”
