Jamie Chung and Bryan Greenberg crossed paths with each other long before they began dating. In fact, they wouldn’t hangout until a year after their official first date.

“[We met] like 10 years ago,” Chung, 34, exclusively told Us Weekly in a joint interview. “But I was barely starting off, Bryan was working. We just so happened to recently work with the same producers — Scott Rosenberg, Andre Nemec, Josh Appelbaum — and they kept talking about this Bryan guy. I was like, ‘Who is this Bryan guy?’ I thought he was really cute, saw him around town, saw him once at a party and we hit it off. But it was very respectful and a conversation that lasted a little too long.”

“And then we met each other in New York again, went on a date and then we didn’t talk for a year. And then we started dating in L.A. So it was kind of like a five-year process,” she adds. “It really was like missed opportunities, missed timings, different cities and then finally we ended up in the same city together.”

Flash forward and the couple have now been married for two years. Before exchanging vows on Halloween 2015, however, the pair briefly split.

“There was the, ‘Oh sh-t’ moment,” the Gifted actress recalls to Us. “When you like freaked out and broke up with me.”

“Oh God,” Greenberg, 39, interjects.

Chung teases: “But it was only like a five-day split. You missed me too much. He’s shaking his head.”

The couple have kept busy since tying the knot. When not acting, Chung is focused on her fashion blog and the musician travels to perform.

“I think what works really well is that we’re both fiercely independent but we choose this partnership, we choose to be together. We both have our own things, our own interests, our own hobbies, but there are other things that bring us together,” Chung says. “I do think that we live — not separate lives — but kind of. I mean I spent six months in Atlanta and Bryan was working in New York, but I really do think its having something you love but its just really yours. A little bit of independence.”

The One Tree Hill alum agrees. “I guess we’re not in the normal sense a normal couple because we’re not with each other that much. It’s really a long distance relationship when you think about it,” he adds. “But for us — I can’t speak for other people or other relationships — but for us there’s just a lot of trust and enjoying the times that we have together and being present.”

And they do take advantage of their time together — especially over the holidays. The couple is currently traveling in Peru. “Because we’re separate for so long — she was in Atlanta, I was in New York and kind of traveling around a little bit playing shows — it’s just nice to have the time off. The holidays we equate with spending time together more than giving gifts to each other. Unless it’s something practical. We’re just really happy to be in the same city,” he says.

This season, they’ve partnered with Braun and plan to give out several Series 9 and Series 7 as presents. “[Bryan] has really sensitive skin. So it was the perfect gift, the perfect partnership really,” Chung tells Us. “We’re both very practical gift givers. It’s just stuff we would use every day, experiences, massages or adventures.”

Greenberg chimes in: “She’s going to use my Braun razor on herself.” As Chung jokingly replies: “No! Why would you say that? But maybe, but why would you say that?”
