"I don't remember what we talked about the last time I saw him," Dornan, 32, said in Variety's upcoming cover story. "I think we just got drunk."

The hunky duo first met after Dornan wrapped filming Fifty Shades of Grey. The Twilight alum, ironically, was author E L James' first choice for Christian Grey. But despite the funny coincidence, Dornan refuses to see a similarity between Pattinson's Edward Cullen days and his Fifty Shades role — even though Fifty Shades evolved from erotic Twilight fan fiction.

"By the way, it's not the same thing. We're not the Twilight franchise. We're a different thing," the Fall actor said. "Whatever my situation is, it's going to be different from Rob's. They are incomparable."

"I've been around Rob long enough to see what it's been like for him," he added. "I don't know if it's been a benefit to witness that. Whatever that is."

Their films may not be the same, but the attention Dornan has received so far perhaps mirrors what Pattinson experienced when Twilight first premiered in 2008.

"I'm astonished at how many people are telling me my life is going to change. Everyone that I meet, especially in L.A. People who run studios or other actors or people who are strangers," Dornan told Variety. "Everyone has been saying that to me, 'Are you ready?' I don't have a good answer to that, because I don't know what I'm meant to be ready for. Whatever happens, happens. I'll just roll with the punches."

Dornan may go with the flow, but the extra attention also has its downfalls. The privacy he used to have with wife Amelia Warner and their 13-month-old daughter seems to have disappeared.

"In London, they follow you around and you try to lose them, which is not a comfortable thing if you have a baby in the back of your car," he said of photographers hoping to get a peak. "If I have a bike and I'm by myself, I can lose them, especially if they are on foot or on a moped."

Fifty Shades of Grey hits theaters on Friday, Feb. 13.
