Jared Padalecki told Us Weekly how he's feeling since canceling several appearances earlier this summer

Recharged and ready to go! Jared Padalecki had a lot of fans very worried earlier this summer when he unexpectedly canceled several appearances after tweeting that he was in "desperate and urgent need" of his family. But after taking some well-deserved time off, he was back and better than ever at the ATX Television Festival's much talked-about Gilmore Girls reunion panel on Saturday, June 6.

Us Weekly caught up with the Supernatural star, 32, before the event, where he joined Stars Hollow faves Lauren Graham (Lorelai Gilmore), Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore), Scott Patterson (Luke Danes), Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore), Milo Ventimiglia (Jess Mariano), Matt Czuchry (Logan Huntzberger), and Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino.

Asked about how his summer has been since those concerning tweets in May, the CW star told Us, "It's been amazing. I did reboot. I did have a chance to reboot, and it was amazing."

He went on to explain his abrupt departure from JIBCON (Jus In Bello Convention), which his manager previously explained by saying he had "pushed himself to his limits" and was "suffering from exhaustion."

"I was 17 years old when I moved to Los Angeles, and I just kind of got into a habit…Everything was like, work, work, work, work, do, do, do, do," Padalecki, a married father of two, shared with Us. "And the last summer, my life has changed a lot. I have a wife. I have two sons, [Shepherd and Thomas], and so I really needed a chance to just unplug. And it was the best thing I've ever done. I'll probably do it every year."

He continued: "You find out you're finite. And for a guy like me who's really Type A, put me to work, give me more, do more! It's difficult to admit that you're a finite individual, right? But it was humbling, and I'm very proud I got to do it."
