If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! While some celebs choose to bring back the one-piece or flirt with daring cutouts, Jessica Alba has stuck to the tried-and-true standard of the string bikini. In Hawaii on Friday, July 15, she flaunted her toned body in a purple version with a triangle top and low-rise bottoms complete with sheer side panels.

The style is timeless, but Alba, 35, proves it’s anything but basic. The Honey star plays up her tan with bright colors and jewel tones when she dons the look. On March 22, she wore a blue patterned creation (also in Hawaii); in April 2013, she frolicked in an eggplant-colored creation in St. Bart’s; and in January 2005, she slipped into an all-white embossed look while soaking up the sun in Florida with husband Cash Warren.

The mom of two’s enviable bikini body is thanks to a bright-and-early workout routine. “A couple times a week I wake up at 5:15 am for hot yoga class,” she told Self. “I need a really good alarm and a strong coffee [to get up in time].”

But Alba’s just like Us: she’d rather be doing anything else. “I’m going to be straight with you guys, I don’t like working out. But I do feel good after. It gives me energy — it just sets a good foundation for the day. Being healthy and strong helps me feel confident and beautiful,” she continued.

Even if you’re not going to wake up in the wee hours for a flawless beach bod, rest assured that a string bikini is particularly flattering on curves. “I love to see this on an hourglass figure,” celebrity swim designer Melissa Odabash tells Us Weekly. “This [silhouette] is designed to help show off curves in all the right places.”
