Jessica Szohr may be 27 years old, but she hasn’t forgotten what it feels like to be 22. The former Gossip Girl actress recently made a cameo appearance in Taylor Swift‘s new music video for her hit track “22” because she said she could relate to her pal’s song.
At an “An Evening” benefitting the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center at The Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hill on Thursday March 21, Szohr chatted with Us Weekly about what it was like filming Swift.
For the video, Swift, 23, asked her “real-life best friends” to star alongside her and told Good Morning America, “I’ve never had this much fun shooting a video.”
And the feeling was mutual! Szohr told Us, “It was great. We were just in Malibu and we got to eat pizza all day and then dance around and jump on the trampoline. It was just a fun, free Saturday.”
“Taylor wrote a song and all of her girlfriends . . . we’ve all been through breakups and stuff together,” Szohr, whose exes include Gossip Girl costar Ed Westwick, explained. “So, she asked a few of us to come and have a fun day at the beach.”
The actress will celebrate her 28th birthday on March 31, and told Us she recently cut her hair short to embrace her older age. “I feel like I’m really coming into my late twenties and becoming a woman,” The Internship star said. ” I colored it and added a little highlights, which I’ve never colored my hair before, and cut it.”
Szohr, who is currently playing an FBI agent for the upcoming pilot, The List, on Fox, also added, “I just felt like it was time for a change. I felt liberated and free.”
