Joan Rivers Remembered: Her Best, Funniest On-Camera Moments

What a life! Joan Rivers passed away on Thursday, Sept. 4 at the age of 81, and she left behind a showbiz career spanning nearly six decades. The comedienne’s legacy included her own daytime talk show, unforgettable stand-up routines, merciless celeb attacks on E!’s Fashion Police, and laugh-out-loud red carpet coverage.

Getting her start as a guest on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1965, Rivers went on to appear on several late night and daytime talk shows before getting the chance to host The Joan Rivers Show in the early ‘90s.

“You don’t need big boobs to be feminine, look at Liberace,” she joked to her former mentor Carson on his show.

The program won the comedy icon her first Emmy in 1990, but her career didn’t end there. Rivers made a name for herself on the red carpets of major award shows, interviewing A-listers while providing plenty of laughs. She also tried her hand at reality TV in Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? with her daughter Melissa Rivers

Starting in 2010, she captained E!’s style show Fashion Police with Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne, and George Kotsiopoulos, airing her critique of the 2014 MTV VMAs and Emmy Awards just days before heading to the hospital due to complications from a minor throat surgery.
