“They spoke about their time working together in Congress and their friendship dating back many years,” a White House statement said of the meeting. “The Vice President again offered full support to the Vice President–elect in order to ensure a smooth and seamless transition of power. The Vice President and Vice President–elect chatted about their families, and the Vice President renewed his invitation for the entire Pence family to join him and Dr. [Jill] Biden for dinner at the Naval Observatory.”

The duo also discussed some of Biden’s policy interests, including NATO, Eastern Europe and the middle class, the statement said.

Biden, 73, previously announced that he called both Pence and Kaine after the election results. “Today, @DrBiden and I called @VP-elect Pence to help ensure a smooth transition and Senator Kaine to congratulate him on a hard-fought race,” he tweeted on Wednesday, November 9.

The Republican governor, 57, later took to Twitter to express his gratitude for Biden’s hospitality. “Thank you for the invitation. I appreciated the warm reception by you and your staff,” he wrote.

The same day of Pence’s White House visit, Trump met with President Barack Obama in the Oval Office. “We talked about some of the organizational issues in setting up a White House,” Obama told reporters. “We talked about foreign policy. We talked about domestic policy. And, as I said last night, my No. 1 priority in the coming two months is to try to facilitate a transition that ensures our President-elect is successful.”

While the men were talking politics, FLOTUS Michelle Obama and the business mogul’s wife, Melania Trump, had tea together and discussed raising children. The first lady took the supermodel on a tour of the private residence, Truman Balcony and the State Floor of the famous home with the White House curator.
