Forget about Jack and Diane: What's the deal with John and Meg? John Mellencamp had nothing but nice things to say about his ex-girlfriend Meg Ryan and hinted the couple may not be done just yet.
"I'm very happy with the time I've spent with Meg Ryan," the 62-year-old "Troubled Man" singer told the Associated Press. "She's a beautiful girl and I know that I will never, ever, ever be with a funnier girl than her. Not gonna happen. I'm grateful for the three-and-a-half years we've been together," he added.
Despite calling it quits over the summer (Us Weekly confirmed the pair split in Aug.), Mellencamp hinted that things might not be done entirely with the When Harry Met Sally actress, 52.
"Nothing's over," he said, when asked about their current status. "Nothing's over. I never say die for anything. Do you ever quit on anything?"
In an interview on the Today show with Matt Lauer on Thursday, Sept. 25, the Plain Spoken singer said he's been working — slowly! — on his new song "Troubled Man" since the 1990s. "I started to write it, but I wasn't mature enough to write it," he explained, adding that with this album, he's "too old to write about girls [now]."
